Resistive Load Banks

Viking Power Limited's range of resistive load banks are designed for both portable and permanently installed applications and can confidently withstand everyday use in a demanding industrial or rental environment.We can provide power proving resistive load banks to suit most applications including workshop or on-site load testing and permanently installed auto load shedding (ALS) units to prevent “wet stacking” of diesel generating sets when running on light loads. All Viking resistive load banks follow the same design philosophy of robust construction matched to a simple operator interface.On most models this interface consists of a 7” colour touch screen with step size selection and load application easily controlled using large, easy to read soft keys and graphics. A dedicated plain English help screen is easily accessible should the operator require assistance or a fault occurs with the unit.

Our standard model range includes portable units in sizes from 8.4KW – 1000KW and fixed installation units starting from 20KW extending through to 2500KW and above. All Viking resistive load banks are manufactured with durable materials to ensure a long service life……

PORTABLE RESISTIVE LOAD BANKS

Viking portable resistive load banksoffer a comprehensive range of load ratings from 8.4kW to 1000kW with features to suit most generating set or UPS testing requirements, either in the workshop or on-site. All models are manufactured using our standard IP65 stainless steel, low watts density resistors for a reliable service life. Units 50KW and above include our manual “Load-Logic” PLC controller with 7” colour touch screen interface. This provides manual control of load steps or the selection of an automatic
generating set load test sequence while providing comprehensive data feedback to the operator.Insulated resistor compartments ensure external temperatures are always maintained close to ambient for operator safety.

AUTO LOAD SHEDDING (ALS) LOAD BANKS

The Viking ALS “Load-Logic” range of load banks are designed to provide automatic single or multiple step loading of diesel or gas fuelled generating sets. The ALS units maintain sufficient base load on the generator to reduce or eliminate light load running. This is the primary cause of accelerated engine wear and “wet stacking” for prime power and standby generators and is common where the set is supplying a varying load.

The ALS Load bank’s customer programmable settings allow constant load sensing of the external load on the generating set and the automatic application or removal of load bank steps to maintain a pre-set load on the generator. Manual operation of load steps is also available for routing testing.

Standard or custom kilowatt ratings with a number of control options are available and can be tailored to customer requirements.

PERMANENTLY INSTALLED RESISTIVE LOAD BANKS

Viking’s full range of load banks can be supplied for permanent installation and we offer a range of options to assist with the installation process.

• Suitable connection flanges for air discharge ducting when installed in plant rooms or other indoor locations.
• Single or multiple remote “Load-Logic” touch screen controllers providing flexibility in the actual operating location for the load bank.
• Digital power meteringproviding Modbus data feed for building management system monitoring.
